Fall Photos

Last Sunday we didn't have any afternoon meetings which is pretty unusual for us so we took a "Sunday Drive" over to the Oquirrh Mountian temple and then through Herriman up Butterfield Canyon. We threw in the camera and the tripod in hopes of getting some fun fall shots. We had a blast and got some pretty good pictures too.

We are all laughing because as Branden ran to get in to the picture he kicks a stump and it starts rolling down the little ledge we're sitting on and crashes in to the creek below. We're glad it wasn't Branden falling in the creek!

Peek-a-boo

I can't believe we got this shot! Jenna and I threw our leaves too early but the others had more Patience.

This was hard to do with out a photographer. I set the timer and ran back to everyone else and then we started walking. I really like it though. We all have real smiles because we really are laughing and having fun!

When did my babies grow so big!??!?

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

As many of you know I am working on the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House and Dedication committee. It's very exciting and totally over whelming! My committee is responsible to put together a history of the area and the temple. We also collect stories from individuals about how the temple effects them or how they are preparing for the temple. I realized that I hadn't actually written our experience either so her goes.

At the Groundbreaking of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, President Monson suggested we “do a little temple building ourselves”. Since then every Family Home Evening has focused on building a temple in our hearts. First we discussed Doctrine and Covenants 88:119 and listed out “ every needful thing” that we should do to build a temple in our hearts. We placed a picture of the temple on the fridge and in several in rooms in the house. We have had lessons on fasting, prayer, faith, education, reverence and even one on house keeping. One night we joined with another family and invited our Bishop and his family to a special family home evening. Bishop Kesler shared his experience of literally building a temple. He was the mechanical engineer for the Nauvoo temple. We had a really nice time hearing how to build a temple and also built a wonderful relationship with our bishop. We hope that our children we build strong testimonies of the gospel and look forward to entering the Oquirrh Mountain Temple when they are old enough.

If anyone else would like to share their experiance with the temple please email me.

Utah Utes 8-0 18 Oct 08

We love our season tickets to Utah Football games!!! The kids have been going to games since they we babies. All of them have slept through the 3rd quarter under the bench. This season has been particularly fun. First, I can go to games and actually enjoy myself. I don't have to worry about getting the team to the next weeks game or wonder if all the recruits for the other teams on campus will make it to their return flights. I don't have post game anxiety and don't have to worry about how the week will be after a loss. While my retirement from the U was a lot harder than I anticipated, my life is a lot more fun and much less stressful. On game days we do a little tailgating and then enjoy the game. I listen to the play by play on the radio (Frank & Mike make me laugh!) and try to explain the game to the girls. It's been a really fun bonding experience for us all. And Second, They are winning! What a great season 8-0!! It's like the old Alex Smith/Urban Meyer Days. TCU & BYU will be exciting games to watch! One thing I do miss is not being able to say I have Whittingham, Ludwig & Andersen on my speed dial! The people above us had this AWESOME sign at the game!!!!

The Pumpkin Patch

Our realtor (no, we're not moving) hosted a Pumpkin patch on Monday, October 13th. Free food, games and pumpkins what could be better! The girls had a blast at doing the LIMbones and Dylan raced thought the hay bale maze. They each got to pick out their own pumpkins. We waited in a huge line for the girls to get their faces painted. As you can see it was worth the wait!

Dylan - 6th Grade

Dylan's been busy with school this year. In September the made and blasted off rockets and made solar ovens. Dylan launched his hydrogen rocket several times. It didn't go as high as some of the others but he can use it more than once. The solar overs were kind of fun. He made smores at school and then English muffin pizzas at home.

My Roses

I just had to take pictures of my roses. After 5 years our yard is finally filling out and looking great. My daisy garden is coming along well but my roses are AWESOME! I moved my John F Kennedy bush and was a afraid that it would die but today I have a beautiful rose coming on. The flowers were originally bright white but this flower had a bit of pink on the edges. My Long Stem Reds had huge flowers all summer but I must have pruned my other bushes a bit too much as they didn't have as many flowers. My new bush, The Laura Bush, did great for it's first year.

Yes, I am 75 years old and must now take a nap as I spent the morning in the garden! J/K

Mean While, during the Party...

Yeah, so I'm still trying to get caught up..... During Alesha's Party, Branden, the great guy he is took the boys to Ute FanFest and the U. The boys, Sam Adams, Ty Hortin & Dylan, had a blast running on the football field and checking out the other team's booths. Many thanks to Branden!!
