Ensign Peak

Yesterday, we completed the last of Dylan's Cub Scout requirements. We hiked Ensign Peak in downtown Salt Lake City. This was the peak Brigham Young and 5 others hiked the 2nd day in the Salt Lake Valley. They quoted Isiaha about raising a ensign to all nations. The song "High on a Mountain Top" was originally written as a poem about Ensign Peak.

Now, if you know us at all you know we're not really "Hiker People" so it took some effort to talk the kids into this adventure. It didn't help any that it was 98 degrees. HDOY! We buttered them up a bit by going to Gateway and the Planetarium first. We LOVE the Planetarium. ($99 bucks a year for Unlimited Movies and star Shows, oh Yeah!) We watched Space Station 3D in the IMAX. It was one of the best 3D movies we've seen.

Anyway, Back to our hike. Once we got started we had a really great time. Dylan practically RAN up the mountain. There were some incredible views of the Salt Lake Valley, The Great Salt Lake, and the Mountains. We watched some airplanes take off from the airport and even found the Olympic oval. From there we could find the general area of our neighborhood.

We ended up having a really good time. I'm pretty sad to see Cub Scouts ending for our family but we have enjoyed it while it lasted!
PS We even found an ever elusive Sego Lilly, the state flower! I was fascinated with them as child and have only on one other occasion been able to show one to my children. I think my love of purple, yellow and white stem from this delicate little flower.

Father's Day 2008

We had a Great Father's Day! For me the best part about holidays is the food so Branden made a full menu. Eggs and Bacon, Roast and Potatoes and Choolate Chip Cookies. We ate and went to church and ate and napped. What a good day! At bedtime the kids all piled on the Daddy Horse for rides to their own beds. Because the children are getting bigger and older we're pretty sure the Daddy Horse rides will be winding down soon so I ran to get the camera. This will always be a fun bedtime memory for us.

Jenna's Preschool Graduation

On Thursday, June 5th Jenna Graduated from Miss Hilary's Busy Bee Preschool. She Really Liked school. I'm not sure how much she learned but her
favorite saying from school is "Easy, Peazey, Lemon Squeezey!"

Jenna says her favorite things about school were field trips and graduation.

Her Favorite Friend at School was her cousin Sam Adams.

Her favorite subject at school is coloring.

Other Favorites; Letter-J, shape-semi circle, color-red, number-13.

We really enjoy Jenna and all the funny things she says and does. (like, "Excuse my bum bum" ) Just one more year until Kindergarten!

Out of the Mouths of Children

I know I haven't Blogged for a while. I just downloaded all of my pictures today so I will do a bunch this week.

I do need to add a funny thing that happened at Stake Conference yesterday. The stake president was talking about repentance and that we all need to repent EVERY day. Well, I feel a tap on my arm and 4 year old Jenna ask, most sincerely, "Mom, is the president really sure about that?" I lost it!!!! I wrote it in my little church journal and passed it to Branden. The bench started shaking as he was laughing so hard! Branden took Jenna to talk to President Judd after the meeting and told him what she'd said. President Judd wasn't sure how to take that but his wife laughed until she cried!

BTW: Like the outfit Jenna picked out to wear to church? Sometimes it's just not worth fighting over!
