What Was I Thinking!?!?

My mom and sisters tease me about the "adventures" I have with my kids. Trips to the park or pool, we've been to nearly every museum along the Wasatch front and any odd traveling attraction: i.e. the Giant Colon. Well, today I came across some pictures of a trip to the Zoo. That's nothing unusual. But the kids are bundled in coats, snowsuits and boots. Upon closer examination the pictures were taken JANUARY 16, 2006. What was I thinking?!?!? That must have been the year we bought a family pass to the zoo and I wanted to get my monies worth. Okay, Mom, Laura, Michelle, Allison & Liz, If you want to MOCK me for something, here it is!!!!

Lincoln County, Nevada

This post is for all of my Riding Family relatives.

I have come across a series of books set in, of all places, Lincoln County, Nevada! I am not kidding!!! The Spider Latham Mysteries by Liz Adair. How's that for a Panaca name? (She is married to Derrill Adair from Panaca. One of the people she notes in the acknowledgements is Shirley White the grandma of my high school sweetheart. Shirley is also an Adair from Panaca.)

Okay, so this is not a "Great Literary Work" but it's kind of fun. The main character, Spider Latham, is the Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff. He investigates the happenings around the county. His character spends time at the warm springs, the Panaca Emporium, the funeral Home in Caliente and the County Court House and Sentinel office in Pioche. "Pioche was the county seat. It consisted of a dozen streets stacked untidily on the side of a hill that was riddled with mine shafts." Now if that doesn't conjure some pictures and memories you just have a very cold heart! j/k

I've only read The Lodger which is the first book. I think there are two or three others.

Well, I just wanted to share with you while I ponder on some happy times.

Generations

We had a great time getting together with Branden's Family on June 14th. All of his aunts and uncles were there at most of his cousins and their kids. We had a fun dinner and a great time visiting. Thank you Tami and Olaf for getting us together!! It was great to see Amber and Brent and kids and Maurie and Larry from AZ. We don't get to see them often. Branden's parents and Tami & Jodi and family live close by so we get to see them more often. We are very grateful for good family!
